About

LearningCamp is a new kind of learning technology conference, where the content is driven by the attendees.

We have taken a great deal of inspiration from the way events like BarCamp and Ignite are run, as well as open source conferences such as DrupalCon. We have some goals that we would like to see the event achieve, but we don’t want to be prescriptive about how that happens.

What are the goals of LearningCamp?

  • There should be minimal barriers to attendance (price should be low or free, the timing needs to suit participants)
  • Encourage people from all areas of the learning technology community to attend – corporates, academic, schools, regardless of job role
  • Should have wide appeal; not just for regular conference goers
  • Transparent and open planning process that involves the community
  • Attendee driven schedule
  • Be interactive, fun, memorable and useful
  • Provide valuable sessions and networking opportunities

Who’s planning this?

Learning Camp is the brainchild of Barry Sampson and Jane Hart, but their vision is for this to be a collaborative effort.
